Addie Rowe (Graduate, 2009) I'm from Oregon, and when I started hunting for massage schools, I looked all over Oregon, Washington, a little in California, and even Idaho.  I wanted to stay close to my family, but felt that if I was going to invest in school, I wanted to enjoy it.  I had a friend move to Durango, and I was curious, so I Google searched, "Massage Schools near Durango, CO" and up popped RMIHA's webpage.  I was immediately attracted!  I went out on a limb and moved to Colorado, knowing only one person.  September 9th came, and it was the start of the greatest adventure/journey/roller coaster ride of my life!  If you're considering enrolling, DO IT!  I will never speak so highly of anything in my life.  No other program (I'm being biased) will give you so much one on one time, intmate relationships with staff and students, and the degree of learning that you get at RMIHA.  Apply!  If you don't you'll regret it.

Ethan Feuerborn (Graduate, 2005) Thank you for helping me discover, in myself, the ability to be who I can... I was instilled with the tools to be someone who is compassionate and can learn to love--to love with my entire being… If, for nobody other than myself, I want you to know that I am indebted to you, because… I found a grain of infinite possibility that I am a beautiful person.  A grain that was revealed to me through my education at RMIHA. I have been buried in David Richo's books (which I also would not have known without my education) and I have realized that I can forgive myself, and I can love myself. And that now I can truly love those around me. To love them in a way which I had never known before. I see now that massage was not what I really learned, rather, I learned how to be human. How to feel, and how to love, truly and deeply. And so, from the bottom of my heart, thank you--so very much thank you.

Anna Freeman, MA, MT (Graduate, 2005) My experience at Rocky Mountain Institute of Healing arts was an enlightening journey, not only for the mind but also the soul.  It was at RMIHA that I learned the basic foundations of therapeutic touch and healing.  I learned that the intention behind one’s touch is just as important as anatomy, kinesiology, and pathology.   Not only did I receive a quality education about the human body but also about the human spirit.  After attending RMIHA I found that I was very well prepared and possessed a vast knowledge base to pull from when interacting with clients.  RMIHA gave me a solid foundation to be an effective and caring massage therapist.  I am grateful for the instruction that I received at RMIHA and would highly recommend the school to anyone interested in bodywork education.

Carrie Griffin, CMT (Graduate, 2004) As a graduate of The Rocky Mountain Institute of Healing Arts, I walked away with more than just knowledge of muscles and technique. I was allowed and encouraged to explore beyond my walls and boundaries so that I could discover, recognize and develop aspects of myself that I didn’t even know existed. I wasn’t expecting this kind of an education when I signed up, but, WOW, it has been the single most profound experience of my life. A whole new person evolved in the time I spent at RMIHA.

Although challenging at times, I am grateful for all the experiences I encountered and the people I shared them with. RMIHA is a safe and comforting place for self-exploration, growth and support. If you desire to be the best you can as a massage therapist and a PERSON, I highly recommend their program. You graduate with more than just an academic education at RMIHA. The skills I gained help me navigate through life with permission and acceptance of myself and others and to wrap all that is in my path with love and compassion.

Melanie Hamilton (Graduate, 2006) My experience with attending Rocky Mountain Institute of Healing Arts is one I will always cherish.  I was in my late 30's and had been out of school for quite a while and really out of practice with studying and memorizing; thankfully this school and the wonderful teachers were willing to spend time with me if I needed it.  It really made things work for me. The environment created at RMIHA is "whole" not only did I learn all the things I needed to know to be a successful massage therapist, I learned so much about myself.  The good, the bad, and the ugly and I am grateful for this. I highly recommend this school to anyone at any age at any stage of life.

Kirstin Howell (Graduate, 2003) I can't think of a more nurturing, constructive, and encouraging environment to begin the process of learning a whole new skill set. When I began looking for a massage school in 2001 I looked into many different schools in the Southwest. There are a great number of good schools, but if you are looking for the perfect mix of solid education, supported personal growth, and lots of hands-on experience the Rocky Mountain Institute of Healing Arts is home. I knew I was going to attend school there from the moment that Rebecca picked up the phone and said, "Hello". Rebecca Mauldin, the director, has infused her school with grace, love, and solid scientific knowledge of the human body. Her commitment to quality shows in everything that she does and in the students that graduate from her programs. When you walk through the doors of RMIHA you will begin a journey of self-discovery, body awareness, practical knowledge, and compassion for others that will last a lifetime. RMIHA was the perfect place to begin my journey and I count my education there as some of the most foundational that I have ever received.

Kristi Miller (Graduate, 2008)  Although one year ago I wouldn't have known I'd find myself in massage school, attending RMIHA reminded me on many levels that I'm always right where I'm supposed to be.  It's hard to put into words the affect that this school has had on my life.  I learned from incredible teachers how to give a wonderful and nurturing massage, and most importantly I found confidence and presence in the beauty of being and loving me.  My advice: If you're considering this school, just trust and let your journey unfold, however it may.

Heidi Pierce (Graduate, 2002) Being accepted to the Rocky Mountain Institute of Healing Arts completely changed my life!  I was one of the first graduates of the school.  Moving from Wisconsin, Rebecca really helped me adjust to being on my own in a new place!  I really owe it all to Rebecca for having the faith in me when I doubted myself to even continue the massage program!  I’m so glad I did though!  It has been a great journey! Thank you Rebecca, I’m so glad you are still a part of my life after all these years!

Airica Parker (Graduate, 2006) I was reborn during the year I spent at the Rocky Mountain Institute of Healing Arts.  My life before it pales in comparison.  The light I developed during my year in beautiful Durango is at the core of everything I do.  There are many aspects to becoming an exceptional massage therapist.  An overall understanding of the layers of the body and self-healing work are just as important as the time spent doing hands-on practice with focused teachers.  I have made a living with the knowledge and wisdom I gained at RMIHA.  I have the skills and the heart presence to keep my clients coming back.  I have worked with some extremely talented people in the world of healing touch in the three years since I graduated from RMIHA.  My own voice of awareness and my own range of skills have something to add to our conversations and trades.  In contrast, I have meet and received massages from therapists who spent less time at a program not as devoted, extensive or well-rounded as RMIHA...sadly it shows!  They do not retain clients, have less options of work environments and do not give their clients a true sample of the beautiful power of massage!  Graduating from RMIHA will give you the tools to make a stable living, serve your clients honorably and live your life with a greater sense of joy.

Alexandra Sexton (Graduate, 2006) After my first day I could already tell that attending this school was going to change my life in so many ways.  I was not only going to learn how to give a massage but how to live a more grounded and spiritual life. The teachers taught from their hearts so we could truly learn how to have more awareness with what's going on with the energy flow and muscles.  I learned how to communicate with the muscles and nervous system to return harmony to the body; the clients and my own. I am forever grateful that I was apart of RMIHA and their teachings- my practice will continue to improve and grow because of this amazing school and the solid knowledge I obtained from my teachers and the students I shared the experience with.

Damon Wratislaw (Graduate, 2008) I found my experience at the Rocky Mountain Institute of Healing Arts to be absolutely amazing.  The staff is very well versed in their subjects, as well as knowing how to draw individual students into the subjects they are teaching.  Mark Little uses analogies of the real world to help people understand things they are having trouble with in anatomy and physiology, almost invariably bringing students into the subject with a short comparison that most people would not think to make, showing his own deep understanding of his subject and how much thought he puts into it himself.  When we began studying neuromuscular therapy, it seemed a painful method of massage to me, but Rebecca Mauldin and April Howell are extremely knowledgable and caring in their application of both the therapy and their method of teaching it.  By the end of the year, I not only liked neuromuscular therapy, I had become a huge believer in its ability to help fix many issues of the body having to do with overly tight muscles which resist other methods to relax them.  I could go on and on about how great all of my teachers were, and how they helped me personally with their understanding not only of their subjects, but of human nature and how individuals need their own path to success.  I had no idea how comprehensive the education I received would be, and I have time and again told people what an amazing school RMIHA is.  I do not believe I would have received as good an education if I had gone anywhere else.  I have long believed in massage as a method of healing, but RMIHA showed me what can be done with massage and gave me the tools to succeed as a massage therapist.
